Deviation Actions
Hey, you there! Yeah, I'm talking to you!
Want a fun art challenge?
You do? Well then, I've got just the thing for you!
Before we go on, though, listen to the song "Wearing a Raincoat" by They Might Be Giants. In case you've never heard it, here's how it goes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_YtF-…
And here are the song's lyrics: www.lyricstime.com/they-might-…
QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT BE ASKING RIGHT NOW:
1. What the hell does this song have to do with an art challenge?
Simple. The challenge is to make your own interpretation of that song with a picture. Your deviation MUST be a picture, but you can use whatever medium you prefer to create it.
Photography? Sure thing.
Watercolors? Absolutely.
Sharpies? Go ahead.
Digital inking and painting? If you want! Use whatever program you think will work!
Your picture doesn't have to represent the entire song; even if it's just a snippet of it, I'll be happy! Yes, I know, drawing pictures based on music is nothing cutting-edge, but I still think this will be a fun brain exercise.
2. Didn't you already do something like this before?
Yes. I tried to, anyway, but only one person entered, and I kind of forgot about the whole thing as a result. However, I'm bringing it back, both as a favor to him and because I still kind of like this idea.
3. Why did you pick that specific song for this challenge?
I wanted to pick a song with an open-ended meaning. That way, no two interpretations of it will be very similar at all. By taking on this project, whether you know it or not, you will all demonstrate to both yourselves and to others how subjective one thing's meaning can be to many people.
4. Is there a limit on how many of your watchers can participate?
Of course not! Any watcher of mine is allowed to enter; however, each participant must draw ONE piece for the challenge. I want to make sure all of you get an equal opportunity here.
5. Should my entered deviation be new?
Yes, the piece you enter MUST be made and marked AFTER February 20th.
(I'm making an exception for Ohthehumanityplz because he had already entered the original challenge.)
6. Where should I send it when I'm finished?
Send it to me by note and I'll add it to a collection of other entries. If you don't note it, I might not see it. You wouldn't want that, now, would you?
Remember to add that it's for the challenge when you note it!
7. When's the deadline, if there is one?
Nothing is etched in stone yet, but I'm thinking October 6th (subject to change; I can either extend or shorten the deadline if necessary). The day after that, I will feature each entered piece in a news article titled "Watcher Feature: Wearing a Raincoat". If I have featured your piece when I publish the article, be sure to fave it so that other artists can see it, too!
Have fun, m'dears. If you have any questions you feel weren't properly addressed above, feel free to ask.

On another note entirely, I have a brand new account on DA! No, don't worry. I'm not moving. This is just a side account.

It's exactly what it sounds like.
I'm not really fluent in either language (although I DO speak some); I just made that account to practice my language skills. If you speak either French or Spanish as a first or second language, you can help me out if you want. I just want to make sure I don't screw up your languages TOO badly.

Nat Your Average PSAnimation
Here's a "PSAanimation" written, voiced, and animated by my talented friend and fellow Don Bluth University student Natalie Fosdick. (Full disclosure: I colored some of the frames on the Smurf girl, and inked the Kimberly scene near the end.) Why don't you give it a watch! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4zjCg27jUY

Some exciting news!
Starting this September, I'll be in a year-long online animation class taught by master animator/director Don Bluth (The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go to Heaven, Anastasia)!
Here's the link, if you're curious: http://donbluthuniversity.com/
This is the happiest I've been in years! The only hard part is waiting until September. (I wanted to enroll in the February course, but that was already filled.) I'm not complaining, though; this is the next best thing. Don Bluth University hasn't even started advertising the September 2018 course yet, so I'm actually early!
An open apology to my friends and watchers
I usually try to avoid writing journals like this, but I've had these feelings bottled up inside me for a while, and I just need to vent for a bit.
Those of you who've watched me since the beginning might notice that I haven't been very active over the past four years or so. My relatively new watchers might notice that I don't upload a lot of stuff. In fact, I've barely uploaded anything at all over a four year span, sometimes to the point where I almost forgot I still even had a DA. I still see art from 2011 on the first page in my "Gallery" section. I still have some art on my old hard drive that I either never bothered to upload or ju

I'll try to do something this weekend. I feel like making something really colorful. You get a solemn nod of approval from me for using a Tigger reference.
